Are You Ready for Your UK Driving Test?

Posted by Dan on Nov 27, 2008 in Lucky Hit

The cost of the UK driving test is not particularly cheap so you will want to be as prepared for it as you can. If you are not ready for your driving test the examiner may decide, in the interests of their own and public safety, to abandon the test. The examiner will leave you on the side of the road and walk back to the test centre.

It is important therefore to be ready for your driving test so it is highly recommended that you seek driving lessons / crash course from a local driving school with qualified driving instructors before taking the test.

The Practical Driving Test lasts about 40 minutes and is conducted by a Driving Standards Agency examiner from your local Driving Test Centre. It is up to you which test centre to use. It can be booked online using the DSA website or by telephone.

You will be tested on the following:

-Eyesight (The distance requirement for the old-style number plate is 20.5 metres. The distance requirement for the number plates that were introduced on 1 September 2001 are 20 metres.)
-Vehicle Safety Checks (Show Me / Tell Me)
-Control
-Moving Off
-Use of mirrors
-Signals
-Response to signs and signals
-Progress and use of speed
-Junctions
-Judgement
-Separation Distances/ Clearance to obstructions
-Pedestrian Crossings
-Parking
-Road Positioning
-Awareness and planning
-Ancillary controls

In addition to the above checks, you will also be tested on any two of the following manoeuvres:

-Turn in the road
-Left Corner Reverse (Right Corner Reverse for vehicles with obscured rear vision e.g. vans)
-Reverse Parallel Park
-Reverse Bay Park (dependent on your local driving test centre’s facilities – this could be at the start or end of your test)

Some tests (normally 1 out of every 3 tests) will additionally be asked to complete the emergency stop exercise.

If you complete the test with a maximum of 15 driver errors (no serious or dangerous faults) you will be the proud owner of a UK driving licence.

If you are unsuccessful, you will have to wait a minimum of 10 clear working days between your original test and any future retest. Whilst you will no doubt be eager to take your test, thorough preparation will undoubtedly help you achieve a pass far quicker than rushing to take it.

A Wild Ride: Rapidly Acquiring A Classic Mustang

Posted by Dan on Nov 27, 2008 in Lucky Hit

Well, I have not had time to post on my web site half as often as I might like, on account of how much I’ve been running around town with my pops manage his wet & wild midlife crisis. Well, I guess it’s not as crazy as it might be. How it went, I mean how he showed up was to get himself dressed up like the Fonz, and drop by to my crib and proclaim to me, in his jazziest dialect: “Hop in, boy, you and I are going out vying for some classic Mustangs for sale. You heard that right, buddy, I’m going to get one of my own.”

Next thing I know he & I were on our way to a couple of those crazy vintage car showrooms that most people are just about certain are not quite on the up and up, and I stare in wonder the old man wrote a check within just a few minutes, for an unnaturally well-preserved classic car. I mean, it really is an intense car. It made some great noise too.

I want to point out that I said that in the past tense. It sounded amazing until it rendered itself silent. My pops tells me that it’s a quick fix and he just needs to find the right part. I’m thinking, it can’t possibly be as easy to get your hands on 1965 Mustang parts as it was like a thousand years ago, but Dad informs me there’s a pretty nice-sized market for them to this day. From what I’m told the nicest way to buy parts for 1966 Mustangs is via internet auctions, since you can get them rebuilt and sometimes even brand new. They might not be super-cheap, however… Think about it, these are thirty year old car parts.

I guess it could’ve been worse… Imagine if he would’ve decided to buy a big tattoo or something.

Currency Trading Education

Posted by Dan on Nov 27, 2008 in Lucky Hit

There are very few forex training courses on the market that actually do what they promise. Most just use rehashed old information and give systems that just do not work in the long run.

There are however a couple of forex training courses on the market that goes a long way in over delivering you what they promise.

The best of these is the well known forex mentor training program by Peter Bain. Not only do you get hours of DVD’s and educationmaterial, but you get access to live forex transactions and training from the man himself. It is simply some of the best forex education on the web with hours of training on DVD and manuals. You even get access to the online version of the training materials when you purchase so you do not have to wait for the hardcopy to arrive. I have written a full forex mentor review on my www.myforextraining.com web page.

The new kid on the block for exponents of forex training is the forex brotherhood course. Not just training, but live ongoing support, interaction, training sessions, trader interaction and trade calls with their monthly membership system. It is one of the better products out there that continues to deliver long after you read the manual and watched the video. Did I tell you it comes with it’s own custom EA that can help with automated trade signals? You can watch a behind the scenes video of the backend exclusive members section on my forex brotherhood review page.

One controversial program that came out recently that can not be really be classified as a forex study course is forex automoney. It’s a forex signals service that gives buy and sell signals via a web interface. You still trade with your normal trading software and your normal broker account and you just follow their trade calls. The secret here is that you must still make your own choices as no robot or service can make the decision for you. You still have to use your own system of trading and just incorporate the forex automoney system into your trading practice and use it as a confirmation. Following it blind just makes no sense. You can get a $4 trial from my forex automoney review here.
