Do People Really Care About the Size of a Laptop?

Posted by Dan on Mar 1, 2009 in Lucky Hit

The question in computing has become, “Does computer portability really matter or is it more important to have a powerful workhorse computer that allows you to fit all your productivity software and save as many data files as will fit on your computer?” Another matter may be whether the smaller dimensions are more valuable or if the light-weight portability is the focal issue. I think the accessibility of different types of laptops in today’s day and age lets us genuinely personalize our productivity machines into something that works for everyone and doesn’t have to be typical for us all.

The announcement of the new macbookair by Apple has really given us options with the size and weight and what kind of mobile computer we carry around with us to school. At less than 3 pounds and wafer thin, we don’t have to get a workout every time we pick it up. It has a 13 inch LCD screen and a normal keyboard. Tell me where I can get it today! This is the very feature I have been calling for.

When I first witnessed the commercial for the MacBook Air with a slim, easy to transport laptop coming out of that manila envelope, I was just amazed. Now, that’s the solution I’ve been searching for. Now it doesn’t have to be a workout to take my laptop with me anymore! No extra bag that can weigh almost as much as the computer, no more heavy lifting, no longer taking up so much extra room! What a relief!

The age old question of whether size is relevant is here now and my answer, when it comes to a small laptop is a reverberating, “yes, Yes, YES!” Size does matter and so does weight. For me and my mobile computer smaller is by far and away better.
