I Found A Few Money Saving Vacation Ideas Not Long Ago!

Posted by Dan on Apr 24, 2009 in Lucky Hit

All work and no vacation is not good, even in a recession. I’ve been doing some research into saving money while still having a nice trip. As I’ve searched the web, I found that the big-name websites can all find some good travel deals.

The choice of travel website should not only include finding the lowest price for car, hotel and air travel, you also want a company with a reputation for arranging a vacation without problems.  It also occurred to me that I should find a place where I can find good prices on travel costs, and maybe where I could drive my own car to save even more. Southern California certainly fits that description.

You’ll find a bunch of information and advice related to Southern California at the SoCal Vacation Guru website.  It presently places most of its attention on Los Angeles and Orange County, with a modest but growing emphasis on San Diego County and San Bernardino and Riverside Counties. For local insight and wisdom about Disneyland, Universal Studios, Knott’s Berry Farm, beaches, shopping, dining and other activities, the SoCal Vacation Guru is a great source.

Did you know that there are actually seven world-class theme parks in the area, those being Disneyland, Knott’s Berry Farm, Six Flags, Universal Studios Hollywood, Legoland, SeaWorld and Disney’s California Adventure. If you were really energetic you could fit all of those parks into a very busy vacation, but it would not be an inexpensive trip. Also, you might save on airfare and hotel reservations as it looks like the economy has a lot of hotels really wanting our business, unfortunately.

In slow economic times the theme parks tend to offer more discounts, as to the museums and other activities. Rather than flying to your vacation destination, you may find that, even with the crazy behavior of gasoline prices recently, you can save money by driving to Southern California this year.
