2010 has been a year that 3D playback smashes into the mainstream. The popular 3-D movie Avatar has also aided in the speed of this growth. Joining the 3D buzz, Denon have just declared that they will be introducing two completely new blu-ray players that will be 3D capable. New firmware updates that will come later this year will make all of them fully 3D compatible.

Leading the lineup is the entry level model Denon DBP-1611UD  which is priced sensibly at $399. At this price it is surely going to capture a large pie of the 3D market. The more well featured model Denon DBP-2011UDCI is better equipped and comes with with significantly better video processing chips from ABT and top end Burr Brown 32bit/192kHz DACs. It is priced considerably higher at $799.

All these are ‘universal’ players that means they can play all types of disc formats such as the higher resolution DVD-Audio and SACD audio formats, although these are beoming less popular. They include stable build and produce good sound which is the hallmark of Denon products.

The 2 new players also come with Netflix and YouTube streaming which is something that Denon has not done before. Also standard is the introduction of 1GB of onboard memory which may make it hassle-free for accessing BD-Live content. Benefits like Kodak Picture CD compatibility, as well as DivX HD, MP3 and WMA playback are added to make using it more enjoyable at home. 36-Bit Deep Color decoding is also included although there are no such encoded media discs that has this. So these disc players are designed to be future proofed.
