A Book Stand Makes a Good Gift for Readers
A book stand is a great gift idea for every real lover of books. Currently marketed types vary from simple wire creations like the Fold’N'Stow that holds a book at adjustable angles on virtually any flat surface, to the elegantly conceived and executed LEVO Bookholder which holds your book in either a floor standing model or a clamp-on design that securely fastens to just about any table, desk, or counter top. Most book stand models work best with hardcovers, but they also can work very nicely with paperback books when they are mounted within book holders like an OpenPage.
The Fold’N'Stow is among the least expensive of book stands. It folds virtually flat for easy storage and transport and comes with it’s own plastic pouch punched for easy use in a 3 ring binder. It may be positioned on a countertop for cookbooks, or atop a desk, table, workstation, bench, etc. Wire arms with page keepers extend from the back plane to secure the covers and open pages of your book, and, by adjusting how far apart the arms are, smaller and larger books may be readily accommodated. The back of the stand also has horizontal pieces that may be moved to adjust the angle at which the book is held relative to the surface upon which it is resting.
The most popular model of the LEVO book stand is the LEVO floor standing model, which features a weighted base on casters for ease of movement from chair side to bedside to desk side to beside the kitchen counter top. Wherever you position it, it can hold your book in virtually any position. Incorporating a bookboard that adjusts in any plane, and coupled with book mounting straps that will securely hold your book, even in an inverted position, the LEVO allows for totally hand-free reading from just about any position.
The LEVO Desk design is just as convenient as the LEVO Floor Model, but features a clamp that safely holds any desk, table, counter top, work bench or other flat surface up to 2 inches thick, and provides identical movements as the floor model, without the degree of vertical telescoping movements. By keeping your reading materials off the surface to which it is secured, the clamp on design saves the weight and expense of the weighted rolling floor base while conserving valuable work space, since your book doesn’t rest on the working surface.
While there are other book stand designs available, the Fold’N'Stow and LEVO book stands have withstood the test of time and hold up well to long term use.
